Justice League brought back all of the characters Snyder introduced in his world of DC heroes. Many of these characters never got to see their roles in the universe fully realized thanks to Warner Bros. and DC. Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Darkseid, Joker, The Atom, and Deathstroke were all teased to have bigger roles to play. Joe Maganiello was on board to return as Deathstroke at one point and even campaigned for a solo project. Now the actor has given up on seeing his character return.

Snyder has been releasing little tid bits of information about his cancelled sequels in the years following his departure, and now his latest offering is a new Vero image of Leto’s Joker. The character was received a lot better in the Justice League movie than he was in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. The Justice League Joker was more in line with what fans are familiar with and audiences got to see him interact with Ben Affleck’s Batman in a very heated conversation. This version of Joker was also from the “Knightmare” reality where the character sported long hair and a much more deranged look than usual.

Jared Leto has now moved over to Marvel and is playing the iconic vampire Morbius, who is a foil to both Spider-Man and Blade. The character has been teased to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that’s produced by Disney, so hopefully this ends up happening and fans can see all three characters on the screen together. Morbius is scheduled to hit theaters in January 2022.

Much of what Snyder reveals makes fans wish that his vision became realized. The amount of depth he would’ve brought to his telling of the DC world could’ve competed with Marvel, but it unfortunatley didn’t see the light of day. Most frequently, Snyder shares concept art of characters that fans didn’t get to see too much of.

Seeing as how Warner Bros. and DC haven’t been standing by their talent as of late, it’s hard to see what the DCEU’s future looks like. Right now they struck a high note with The Suicide Squad and many are anticipating Matt Reeves’ The Batman. So hopefully they can keep the stride going, but if they’re going to keep winning then let’s hope that Warner Bros. and DC manage to treat their talent and crew right.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now available on HBO Max.
