That’s what YouTuber Fundy has done. Uploading a video of their work a few days ago, the content creator has managed to make a fully working version of Pac-Man within Minecraft. However, although it has a remarkable resemblance to the arcade classic, Fundy has implemented a bit of a twist to the gameplay. Typically, players control the titular yellow circle, avoiding or chasing ghosts. However, in Fundy’s version, it’s the player that’s being chased by Pac-Man, and the design of it gives the experience a much more horrifying edge, as some other YouTubers discovered.

The video explains the process of making the game within a game, which involves a substantial amount of coding. With the giant Pac-Man now sporting a creepy smile and being the one to chase the player, there’s an almost horror vibe to it. However, much like in the original, players can collect items that will allow them to attack their pursuer. This is also not the first time Fundy’s done something like this. In 2020, they also managed to make a Minecraft game within Minecraft itself, which shows just how incredibly talented they are when it comes to interesting concepts in the blocky world.
As part of the golden age of arcade games, which stretches back into the 1980s, Pac-Man was a global phenomenon when it first dropped at the start of the decade. It’s not only one of the most influential games ever, but it’s also one of the most addictive, with players still getting some fun out of it and there being numerous iterations of it released over the years.
It also shows the might of Minecraft. As a game with near infinite replay value, the creative space and powerful tools it affords the player have made for some incredible creations these past ten years. Fundy’s slightly creepier take on Pac-Man is not only evidence of their own skills, but also shows that there are so many ways for people to play Mojang’s ubiquitous IP.
Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
