As it turns out, the normal-type Pokemon Slaking is one of the most powerful third generation Pokemon currently in Pokemon GO. Slaking’s stats have been compared to some of the best Pokemon in the game, with especially impressive stamina. When it comes to absorbing damage, Slaking is right up there with the likes of Blissey and Snorlax. However, Slaking’s extreme power comes with a catch.
Slaking’s main attack in Pokemon GO is Yawn, which doesn’t actually do any damage to other Pokemon. Instead Yawn builds Slaking’s charge attack, which he can then unleash for a ton of damage. Considering this, Slaking may not appeal to all players, but those with a little patience will be able to put him to good use in raid battles.
Even with this flaw, Slaking is easily one of the best new Pokemon added to Pokemon GO in the gen 3 update. However, obtaining Slaking is going to be easier said than done, as it’s going to require players amass a whopping 125 Slakoth candy. Unless, of course, they are lucky enough to find Slaking in the wild, though that seems highly unlikely.
Once players manage to catch Slakoth, which isn’t exactly the most common gen 3 Pokemon available, they will then need to collect 25 candy to evolve it into Vigoroth. Another 100 Slakoth candy will be required to evolve Vigoroth into Slaking. As always, players will get the most candy when they hatch Pokemon from eggs, but they can also double their candy by feeding Slakoth a pinap berry before catching it.
Obtaining Slaking is going to be a long and tedious process for Pokemon GO players, but considering how powerful the Pokemon is, it seems like the effort will be well worth it. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see what other gen 3 Pokemon stand out as especially powerful as more data is collected on the creatures in the coming weeks.
Pokemon GO is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
