HTC and iFixit to Offer Repairability to Vive

According to a post on the Vive Blog, HTC and iFixit are joining forces to offer spare parts to Vive owners. So, if your HTC VR ecosystem is in need of a little TLC, you can grant it with an array of shiny new components fresh from the shelves. All this in a week where HTC brings anime to the Vive.

The blog post states:

This is pretty awesome news, as it means you can re-Vive (not sorry) a system that you thought had become obsolete. This might grant you several more years of enjoyment, in turn.

Why Is the HTC and iFixit Partnership Such a Good Thing?

HTC America’s General Manager, Daniel O’Brien, says:

This is almost unheard of. A brand that continues to do everything it can to support a product, even when it is no longer obliged to do so. So many other brands could learn from this partnership.

Kyle Weins, iFixit’s founder, agrees:

He’s completely right, of course. With most brands allowing their devices to become prematurely obsolete, this is an unprecedented step from HTC and one which should be roundly and loudly applauded.

Monumental News for HTC Vive Owners

If you’re one of the owners O’Brien and Weins are talking about, then this will undoubtedly be music to your virtual ears.

Even if you have a fully functional Vive system, this will be peace of mind for you, knowing that your system has plenty of gas left in the tank and, if the tank leaks, you can always replace it thanks to iFixit.
