Spotify Now Lets You Download Content to Your Apple Watch
Spotify is finally rolling out a new feature that lets you download music and podcasts to your Apple Watch, so you can listen without an iPhone. In a post on For the Record, Spotify announced the feature would start rolling out on May 21 and over the next few weeks.
With the new feature, Spotify users will now see an option to download playlists, albums, and podcasts to their Apple Watch in the Options tab. Spotify made it clear that it wants to make a more mobile-friendly option for listeners.
Users previously could control playback from the Spotify app on Apple Watch, but will now be able to download music to it. Once music is downloaded to the Apple Watch, users can listen to it without an internet connection or a paired iPhone nearby.
Apple Music listeners have been able to do this since the Apple Watch first introduced the feature, and Spotify listeners were left behind. It’s great to see that Spotify has caught up with the rival feature, and is expanding how it lets users listen to music.
How to Download Spotify Content to Your Apple Watch
If you’re looking to download Spotify music and podcasts to your Apple Watch, there are a couple of requirements. You’ll need to a Spotify Premium plan, just like you do for downloading music on other devices. Also, you need an Apple Watch Series 3 or later running watchOS 6.0 or higher.
