Microsoft’s New Webcam Update to Microsoft Teams
If you feel as if you’ve heard this news before, it’s likely because you caught wind of this feature back when Microsoft added it to its 365 Roadmap back in early February 2021. However, back then, it was still in development and not ready for release.
However, that has now changed. A Microsoft Teams Engineer, Alex, has confirmed on the Microsoft Teams UserVoice that the feature is now rolling out for everyone.
If you follow the links that Alex posts, you’ll see the Roadmap entries for blocking a single attendee’s video (70620) or everyone’s (70621). Microsoft has updated both features to say that they’re “rolling out,” meaning these features should now be on your PC, if not very soon.
A Much-Desired Feature, Now on Microsoft Teams
If you like to attend meetings without seeing everyone’s faces at once, Microsoft Teams will let you block them out now. You can choose between blocking individual feeds or everyone’s at once for a better meeting experience.
However, your co-workers may get the feature before you, despite you both being on the same version. If that happens, don’t worry—it’s just how Microsoft handles updates for its services.
