This much was confirmed in a discussion held between Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime and Polygon at E3 2018, with the Big N head stating that Yoshi, “continues to be in development making great progress.” Fils-Aime made the delay known after it was inquired as to why the game was not playable at this year’s expo, which assuredly was a letdown for many who anticipated its presence at the show.
As of now, there’s no telling what has caused Yoshi’s delay to occur, but there’s no doubt that many are disappointed to learn that the Switch will be short one exclusive in 2018, especially with the reveal trailer from last year showing off the fun co-op hijinks that seemed so close to coming out this year. Hopefully fans will get a concrete release date in the coming weeks and months.
While Yoshi was absent as a playable game at E3 2018, Nintendo definitely still has some strong titles to support the Switch in 2018, with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Pokemon Let’s GO both set to make solid debuts later this year. So, thankfully, fans of the Big N has a handful of solid exclusives and even third-party titles on the way to distract Yoshi fans that the platformer has been pushed back.
Yoshi is set to release at some point in 2019 for Nintendo Switch.
