The Esports Observer cites anonymous sources who claim that YouTube paid Activision Blizzard $160 million for the rights to stream the company’s esports events for the next three years. The largest part of that figure is for Overwatch League which is not surprising as viewers of the league have spent a huge amount of money cheering on their favorite teams on Twitch. Android Police readers with Premium YouTube subscriptions have started noticing a new option to download videos through the Labs page. According to Labs, the download feature will work with Windows, Mac, and Chrome OS, and the test will be ending in mid-October. According to Android Police, it’s been made available to YouTube Premium subscribers in India and France, but should also be widely available in other areas. The main draw of downloading YouTube videos is not having to worry about an internet connection....
The Google-owned content platform said that RT’s German channel was given a “strike” for uploading videos against YouTube’s standards on COVID-19 misinformation. The channel is suspended from uploading new content as a punishment. “During this suspension, RT DE tried to circumvent this restriction by using another YouTube channel to upload its videos,” which resulted in both channels being terminated for violating YouTube’s conditions of use, it added.
